  • Position Description

    The Director Information Delivery & Analytics will provide leadership and specialized expertise associated in the delivery of information for decision making and performance management to all organizational levels within Ryder. He/she will be responsible for leading the design, development and deployment of analytical applications and architecture that support strategic objectives and initiatives.

     

    They will play a lead role in requirements gathering, design and development of Descriptive, Diagnostic, Predictive and Prescriptive Analytical solutions. The incumbent will have responsibility for designing the end-user interface to the appropriate data repository that will be visible to the enterprise, and must, therefore, work closely with other EIM team members and end users to gain a full understanding of their needs. They will drive the organizational change management efforts for end-users’ solutions delivered with the goal of driving end-user adoption and empowerment. He/She will lead the Analytical Data Governance Council. In addition, they will lead innovation efforts to use existing information delivery technologies more effectively and investigate emerging information delivery technologies (on-premise or cloud based) that could benefit the enterprise. Finally, the incumbent will play a lead role in the enablement of users to transform Ryder into a data driven culture. The individual will report to the Group Director of EIM (Enterprise Information Management).

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Information Science
    • Master's degree MBA or Information Science preferred
    • Twelve (12) years or more experience in IT with a variety of DW/BI/Analytics technologies supporting the full software development life cycle
    • Five (5) years or more experience as a BI/Analytics Director in a large and complex environment. Ideally in a multi-billion dollar organization
    • Five (5) years or more sound experience and proven delivery record of architecting and implementing enterprise-wide Analytical solutions using leading tools like Microstrategy, SAS, SPSS, Watson, Business Objects, Cognos or Microsoft BI
    • Five (5) years or more practical experience in building business and technical requirements
    • Five (5) years or more experience in the definition and implementation of a Business Intelligence & Analytics program for descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms
    • Demonstrates analytical skills. Exceptional Data Analysis skills
    • Strong partnering skills and service oriented mindset

    • Functional knowledge of Predictive Analytical concepts using tools like SAS Enterprise Miner and Forecast Studio (advanced level)
    • Sound understanding of DW and applications database modeling and concepts (advanced level)
    • Knowledge of Business Systems Management, Project Management, Business Analysis, BI Architecture, Budget and Human Resource Management (advanced level)
    • Knowledge of data modeling tools such as Embarcadero or Erwin (intermediate level) preferred

    Responsibilities

    STRATEGY AND MANAGEMENT:

    • Define, implement, and promote architectural guidelines/standards, best practices, governing mechanisms, key processes, controls, and supporting tools. Demonstrate thought leadership across discipline and domains of Information Delivery and Analytics. Facilitate consensus and/or obtain buy-in from domain experts. Accelerate adoption of and promote adherence to guidelines/standards by engaging, teaching, training, and mentoring peers and associates
    • Measures and monitor implementation of Analytics best practices
    • Mentor Information Delivery & Analytics team members on best architecture and deployment practices for analytical solutions
    • Facilitate performance reviews, identifying training and development requirements and plans
    • Motivates and influences the organization to be more data driven instead of just report consumers
    • Keeps up to speed on emerging analytics technologies and provides thought leadership and vision on which technologies align well with Ryder’s IT and EIM’s vision and should be pursued

    SOLUTIONS DELIVERY:

    • Determines how BI architecture fits and interacts within Ryder's overall IT and EIM visions
    • Conduct program/project reviews to identify and address business requirement support issues or roadblocks
    • Daily coordination of EIM Information Delivery & Analytics staff and resources
    • Daily coordination of Information Delivery & Analytics project deliverables
    • Responsible for implementing and delivering change management to ensure delivered solutions are adopted by the user community and that they are empowered to get the planned benefit

    FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT:

    • Perform management and administrative functions including budgeting, reporting (personnel utilization, project status, salary administration, employee discipline, etc.)
    • Verify accurate solution estimates are provided, proposals are consistent with EIM Information Delivery & Analytics guidelines/standards, and potential risks have been identified
    • Work with Portfolio/Program Managers, Application Teams, Operations, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), partners and suppliers on solution designs and proposals that maximize leverage and reflect true costs/benefits. Responsible for the P&L for location code 09193

    PRODUCTION SUPPORT:

    • Responsible for daily production support activities to 7000 users across Ryder plus external customers who use the Customer Web Portal (CWP) and External Ryder portal for SCS customers and TM carriers
    • Provides immediate support to all levels of the organization from the CEO to department analysts across all three segments
    • Responsible for overall management of the EIM Information Delivery & Analytics team and their project assignments
    • Works closely with Ryder executives understanding their information needs and serves as their adviser in how information can be best delivered to them for decision making
    • Creation of business oriented presentations to communicate best use of information across the enterprise
    • Manages Information Delivery/Analytical and Predictive Modeling developers and consultants
    • Mentors Information Delivery & Analytics' Business Analysts, Quality Assurance, Development team and Project managers
    • Translates information access business needs and objectives into analytical requirements and project estimates
    • Overall design of standards for analytical solutions across the enterprise
    • Deliver schedule milestones on-time to ensure project/program objectives are met
    • Performs other duties as assigned
