    As a Safety Manager with Ryder, you will manage distribution center safety programs to ensure a safe and accident-free work environment. You will also plan and/or deliver programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices. You will promote safety by working with all departments to analyze current situations and recommend safety improvements.  

    • Builds a culture that integrates safety with daily operations; reduces frequency and severity of injuries, reduces costs and develops a more productive, effective and safe workforce that is in compliance with all applicable standards and regulations. 
    • Analyzes accident data to identify trends and accident types that can be prevented. 
    • Serves as resource to distribution center management during the development and implementation of standard safety programs. 
    • Regularly reviews status of safety process and programs. 
    • Tracks, reports, benchmarks and trends safety data; conducts root cause and other analysis to reduce incidents; establishes metrics and reports results to management weekly and monthly. Provides appropriate feedback and results to operations and DC personnel.
    • Identifies “Safety Best Practices” and communicates for implementation at the location.
    • Reviews and update safety policies, procedures and training to meet all regulatory updates in a timely manner.

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Logistics or Transportation or 8 (eight) years of combined college and/or relevant equivalent work experience is required
    • Minimum of 2 (two) years of supervisory experience required
    • Experience with warehouse and or software applications, routing and dispatch software systems required
    • Experience with ground transportation operations including DOT, OSHA and all related safety regulations


    • Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills preferred
    • 3-5 years of experience in a transportation, warehouse or distribution environment preferred
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred


    • Ensuring flawless execution and adherence to pre-established customer critical success factors
    • Management of all areas of transportation to include safety, transportation, DOT regulation, compliance, P and L responsibility, distribution and customer service
    • Management of assigned direct reports to include employee relation issues, performance management, new employee training and development
