  • Position Description

    The Corporate Communications Manager develops and executes public relations plans and social media campaigns that support Ryder's business objectives, promote the company's products and services, and enhance the company's reputation as an industry leader, respected employer, and responsible business.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, communications or related field
    • Eight (8) years or more experience practicing media relations in corporate or agency environment
    • Eight (8) years or more experience in communications, journalism, or media relations in a corporate or agency environment
    • Exceptional writing and interpersonal skills, and proven success in getting articles and news stories published in national, local and trade publications, online news, blogs and broadcast outlets
    • Detail oriented
    • Highly organized
    • Ability to:
      • Multitask
      • Travel internationally. Passport will be required for international travel
      • Work under pressure in a deadline driven environment
      • Work independently and as part of a team
    • Fluency in written and spoken Spanish is a plus (intermediate level) preferred
    • Proficiency with social media platforms and analytics: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram (intermediate level)
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office and PowerPoint (intermediate level)
    • Familiar with media monitoring and news distribution software services (intermediate level)
    • Working knowledge of PR industry tools and databases such as Businesswire and Cision (intermediate level)

    Responsibilities

    • Develop, manage, and execute strategies to secure impactful media coverage for Ryder brand, subject matter experts, products & services, and events, including pitching and engaging trade and business reporters, facilitating media interviews and support for Ryder executives, and writing press releases, bylined articles, blogs and social media posts
    • Lead Ryder’s corporate social media program, including overall social media strategy, monitoring, developing and managing an annual content calendar, tracking and reporting metrics, and creating custom content that promotes the company’s products and services and enhances its reputation as an employer of choice
    • Develop and execute PR strategies for product, service, and industry go-to-market plans in conjunction with marketing team
    • Manage the company’s financial press releases, including quarterly/annual earnings results, investor conference notices, earnings call advisories, and dividend announcements
    • Actively monitor national business and trade media for industry trends, issues, and company and competitor news. Provide media monitoring and PR support for Ryder’s Crisis Management Team
    • Manage vendor relationships including PR agencies in the US and Mexico, wire services, monitoring services, etc
    • Maintain relationships with Ryder executives and marketing teams to to stay abreast of key initiatives, trends, and understand overall business objectives in order to develop and execute PR campaigns externally that align with these strategies
    • Manage the Corporate Communications budget
    • Maintain Ryder’s corporate fact sheets and executive bios
    • Track and report quarterly department media results
    • Be on call 24/7
    • Perform other duties as assigned
