Position Description

Working under general supervision, the Learning & Development Specialist supports the creation, maintenance and delivery of Ryder training and development materials and solutions, addressing the organization’s needs to build competency and improve the overall capability of its talent. To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to work within a team and independently, have excellent customer service, possess an ability to learn quickly, and demonstrate an ability to troubleshoot issues (and then apply corrective action to prevent re-occurrence). Ensures business continuity for Talent Management Activities through System Administration.


  • Bachelor's degree business, organizational psychology, human resources or related field
  • Two (2) years or more experience in professional work environment
  • Detailed oriented with excellent follow-up practices
  • Ability to:
    • Work with others in a professional manner while achieving a common goal
    • Coordinate events and handle logistics
  • Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills
  • Demonstrate time management and priority setting skills
  • Knowledge of:
    • Adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies preferred
    • E-learning authoring tools preferred
  • Microsoft office suite such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. (intermediate level)
  • Technical understanding of Learning Management Systems (LMS), Performance Management, Succession Planning (intermediate level)


  • Collect and analyze data for key learning metrics
  • Publish courses, events and related training material into Learning Management System and assist with quality control by proofreading and editing content within the system and the Talent Management SharePoint site
  • Work closely with stakeholders within the business, project team members, as well as instructional designers, to provide instructional design support (instructor led, web based, webinars, job aids, surveys, evaluations, etc.)
  • Coordinate sales webinars by working closely with admins, sales trainers and subject matter experts to deliver effective sales webinars
  • Works on other assignments and duties within Talent Management as assigned by supervisor
  • Daily maintenance of performance and succession system support end users and perform upgrade tests
  • Preparation and / or update of documentation for new or existing systems
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned
