    The Sales Finance Consultant will research, prepare, and deliver quantitative financial analyses, business models, projections and financial sales presentations. S/he will function as a subject matter expert and business partner to the salesforce and leadership team.  The incumbent will be responsible to independently perform in-depth financial analysis from both internal and external financial resources and lead the financial elements of larger “ownership market” sales pursuits. The consultant will be deployed in all large deals to take the lead in financial discussions with business owners and finance leaders (CEO, CFO, Controller, etc…) around Ryder’s TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) analysis and positioning. This requires him/her to develop personalized financial models and cost effective analysis based on the customer’s requirements and inform the customer of Ryder’s Value Proposition. The incumbent will leverage their financial expertise and provide the salesforce with insight on industry based financial matters and discovery on specific target prospects in order to increase and ensure profitable sales opportunities.

    The Sales Finance Consultant will lead and support Ryder’s salesforce with identifying and preparing cost effective product and service offerings for bid management. Responsibilities will also include providing consultative services and training to other sales members within the region.




    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, marketing, business or sales and minimum eight (8) years of senior level finance experience with some sales
    • MBA degree and minimum four (4) years of finance experience with some sales preferred
    • Certifications preferred: Chatered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chatered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and Project Management Professional (PMP)
    • Experience working in a dynamic financial consulting and advisory firm or environment
    • Excellent analytical and methodical problem-solving skills
    • Strong verbal, presentation, and written communication skills
    • Flexibility to operate, and self-driven to excel, in a fast-paced environment
    • Highly organized with excellent time management skills in order to manage multiple projects and shift priorities
    • Detail-oriented with excellent follow up practices
    • Excellent influencing, persuading, and negotiating skills
    • Demonstrated financial and mathematical competence with a strong understanding of key accounting concepts:  revenue, variable expense and depreciation/interest and how these relate to and impact equipment pricing and sales
    • Advanced project management skills 

    Ability to: 

    • Analyze profit and loss (P&L), income statements, balance sheet and cash flow information
    • Explain the tax and depreciation impact of business decisions to finance and non-finance buyers
    • Effectively articulate the financial elements of Ryder’s cost of ownership analysis in order to provide sound, profitable, and cost effective recommendations
    • Present information and ideas clearly and understandably; read and interpret information and ideas communicated
    • Work independently and as a member of the team
    • Create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers and management)
    • Guide, engage, and impart knowledge to others 

    Knowledge of: 

    • Finance and financial concepts; understanding of sales process and positioning preferred
    • MS Excel such as working with formulas, data tables, pivot charts, queries, custom functions, data management and analysis (advanced level)
    • MS Word such as keyboard short cuts, creating macros, merge queries, templates, table techniques and working with images and text (advanced level)
    • MS Power Point such as inserting charts, graphs & tables, customizing slide shows with hyperlinks, drawing and working with objects, speaker notes, meeting notes and advanced presentation features (advanced level)
    • Pricing, financial analysis and cost effective analysis


    • Research, develop, and execute quantitative financial analyses, business models, and projections   
    • Perform in-depth financial analysis from both internal and external financial resources
    • Structure financial aspects of a TCO deal
    • Lead sales teams on all larger opportunities where TCO process is deployed
    • Present the financial benefits of Ryder solutions to high level executives, such as CEOs and CFOs of large corporations
    • Analyze the results of TCO analysis to enable sales to best present Ryder’s cost advantages and prepare cost effective product and service offerings for bid management
    • Work with team to develop and present bids and solutions to customers
    • Provide consultative services to entire regional sales team on TCO process
    • Partner with Learning and Development (L&D) to drive training on TCO to the salesforce across the region
    • Perform other duties as assigned
