Position Description

The Accounting Clerk position is responsible for all billing, payables, cash application, problem resolution, and balancing of freight bills. This individual will identify and resolve problems which will require the ability to gather and analyze information. They will handle various difficult client/customer situations responding promptly and professionally. This individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality. In addition, this individual can adapt to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events. They will be dependable and able to respond to management direction in a positive manner. They will have the ability to work in, and promote a team environment.


  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in accounting and understanding of the general ledger accounts and how they relate to invoices
  • Experience with 10-key Experience with McLeod
  • Advanced Level Skills in MS Word such as keyboard short cuts, creating macros, merge, merge queries, templates, table techniques, and working with images and text


  • Proficient customer service and phone etiquette skills 
  • Some college course work preferred 
  • Strong commitment to excellence, accuracy and quality 
  • Ability to handle shifting demands and multiple priorities


Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Entry of Accounts Payable Balancing and Reconciliation of Billing/AP Billing Cash Application
  • Creation and management of various Excel reports
  • Customer Service calls
  • Data entry
  • Incoming and outgoing mail
  • Initiate and create credit and debit memo's
  • Manage unbilled loads Rebilling/balance dues
  • Research and resolve freight invoices with problems
  • Scanning of paperwork
  • Training of new employees
  • Verification of entries
  • Other duties as assigned
