  • Position Description

    The Cross-Border Security Manager is responsible for the recognition, assessment and control of supply chain security risks as it pertains to the cross-border movement of goods. The position also entails the management of security personnel and security systems at cross-border locations. This position primarily supports supply chain locations in both the U.S. and Mexico.


    • Bachelor's degree in Criminology or related field
    • Five (5) years or more criminal investigative experience
    • Five (5) years or more transportation or Cargo Security experience preferred
    • Five (5) years or more US/Mexico Cross Border Security issues experience preferred
    • Capable of working without direct oversight to meet the objectives of the position
    • Ability to:
      • Manage several concurrent issues, focus on priority tasks and brief managers with an appropriate level of detail
      • Create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)
      • Converse effectively, both orally and in writing, in both English and Spanish
    • Familiarity with Customs Security Programs and Trade Compliance issues (advanced level)
    • Knowledge of security systems, including intrusion detection (burglar alarms), access control, video surveillance, GPS systems (advanced level) preferred
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications as well as the use of on-line web based services (advanced level) preferred


    • Conduct security incident investigations and provide guidance and support to field operations to identify root causes. Act as liaison with local law enforcement in the investigation, arrest and prosecution of individuals committing crimes against Ryder
    • Implement and control transportation security at all cross border operations
    • Design and implement effective security systems for new start-ups and existing field locations. Monitor new business start-up activity and provide support to new customer start-ups in the design and implementation of effective security processes and management
    • Evaluate security issues at field locations, recommend and implement effective solutions
    • Monitor and track performance of field locations and provide performance updates to the operational leadership teams and the Director, Corporate Security Mexico
    • Provide security training programs for the field operations and coach field location managers in improving security performance
    • Conduct C-TPAT and OEA audits at Ryder field location and transportation companies
    • Performs other duties as assigned
