The primary focus of the Supply Chain Solutions Manager is to provide engineering support for business development initiatives. When new business opportunities are identified, this engineer will work with both potential customers and a cross-functional Ryder team to develop an optimal warehousing design. By evaluating and developing solution components such as a facility layout, equipment and labor strategies and requirements, optimal proposals are created.
This unique opening allows the opportunity for an engineer to use imagination, problem-solving skills and industry knowledge to create unique design solutions. Each project tends to be distinctive in its requirements and strategy, so the ability deal with ambiguity and change is essential. The team environment and evaluation process allows visibility to, and interaction with, all levels and functional roles within the company. When a design is implemented, it will be the responsibility of the engineer to verify that operational requirements match the proposed design.
To be successful, an applicant will require a strong knowledge of all supply chain processes and how they interact, and affect distribution management strategies. Experience with designing distribution facilities and warehousing processes is a requirement. Strong analytical skills will be essential to demonstrate that a solution is optimal. They must have strong ability to communicate and work closely with cross-functional team that includes engineering, sales, IT, pricing and management.
