Position Description

The Supply Chain Engineering Manager supports the development of the Ryder Continuous Improvement culture across the Business Unit/Vertical by actively promoting and facilitating the use of continuous improvement methods to support new business  and existing operations.  Drive change through focused CI efforts to higher levels of performance in safety, quality, performance, cost and growth each and every day. Effectively utilizing lean and engineering methodologies, tools, root cause analysis and waste reduction with a bias for action.  This high influence position will interface with employee at all levels and various functions / departments across the business and within a facility.

 

Preferred Skillset:

  • Thorough understanding of Lean tools/processes
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Strong communication skills and ability to coach, mentor, and develop others
  • Experience developing and implementing continuous improvement plans

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required in Engineering/Business/Supply Chain or a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience
  • Minimum of eight years of related experience

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • MBA and/or Industrial Engineering Masters Degree preferred. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred, attainment is required within 12 months
  • American Production Inventory Control Society (APICS) Certification is preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in: MS Office MS Project and/or Transportation/Warehouse Management Systems (TMS and WMS) MS Visio Statistical and/or Transportation
  • Analysis Tools (Minitab, SAS, Matlab, i2, Tmod, ILPS) Network analysis tools and/or Simulation and Inventory/Network Design tools Mapping analysis tools, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Independently identifies process gaps then recommends and implements process improvement
  • Applies company methodologies and tools to design distribution and/or transportation operations
  • Establishes and implements performance measures
  • Actively supports the sales process and creates high quality solutions and designs
  • Provides proposal presentation support and development
  • Makes Inventory and/or Supply Chain strategy recommendations
  • Effectively interacts with customers, Sales, and Operations to create value propositions
  • Confers with Engineering and Operations Managers to implement efficient and competitive solutions
  • Manages multiple and complex Supply Chain projects
  • Provides resource planning based on priorities and demand signals
  • May assist in providing logistics training as part of Ryder Academy Supervises a team of engineers (hire, promote, coach, development and performance management)
